Noerr tax head and Dewey trio quit for WTS

The co-head of tax at German independent Noerr and three local partners at Dewey & LeBoeuf has exited their respective firms to join multi-disciplinary practice WTS.

Stefan Hoelzemann (pictured) is presently co-head of Noerr's tax and private client department alongside Georg Edelmann. Hoelzemann has led the team since 2006 and is to return to WTS World Tax Service in Munich at the end of August. Noerr Duesseldorf partner Lutz Schmidt will replace him in the role.

Hoelzemann was one of the ranked partners in Noerr’s tax team. The German firm, which acquired tax boutique Schmidt Schuran & Partner last year to bolster the team, has worked for clients including Mondia and MENA Cleantech.

The hire is part of a wider push into legal services for WTS. The group, which also covers accountancy and financial advice, has recruited Carsten Fischer, Bela Jansen and Dieter Luebbehüsen from Dewey. All three were local partners.

“These new team members are highly experienced and come from leading law firms. With them on board, WTS will join the ranks of elite consultancy firms in the fields of asset management, fiscal transaction and structural consultancy,” said Fritz Esterer, chief executive officer at WTS.
