US firms toast PZU float success

Two US law firms are celebrating the successful initial public offering (IPO) of Polish insurer PZU, which saw its shares rocket today, its first day of trading.
PZU saw investors bid at a premium of nine times the offer price, increasing the share price by over 13% to PLN352.1 (€88.64). It values the business at PLN30.4bn (€7.6bn) and has been warmly welcomed by market followers.
Dewey & LeBoeuf acted for PZU on the IPO. Warsaw managing partner Jarosław Grzesiak led the team. Weil Gotshal & Manges was the legal adviser to the banks.
