Buse launches in London with EMW link

German firm Buse Heberer Fromm has secured its much-anticipated London launch after forming an association with UK practice EMW Picton Howell.
The two firms have entered into a non-exclusive arrangement that will see Buse utilise space in EMW’s London office to act as its City practice. Buse will operate the base as a representative branch with lawyers flying in on a regular basis but no partner based full-time in the office. Frankfurt-based Stephan Menzemer is responsible for the UK unit.
Buse managing partner, Christian Pothe (pictured), told The European Lawyer: “We have entered a “good friends” agreement with EMW although it is not an exclusive alliance. It works on the same basis as our other international offices in Australia, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and the US.”
Buse has been planning its London launch for over two years. The firm has been without an official link in the UK since it left the legacy European legal alliance led by Field Fisher Waterhouse.
Greg Davidian, a partner at EMW, added: “This agreement allows us to cover the national German market through Buse’s six offices across the country and also allows the firm to work from our base in London. It is an ideal solution.”
